Dis-Oriental hoodie

$88.00

This is an oversized and boxy hoodie featuring a screen-printed design. It is made in Bethlehem in a family owned and run sewing workshop with exclusively uses solar energy.

The design features a photo of a Palestinian woman from Nablus with her baby in a basket on her head. Featured in the December 1938 issue of National Geographic, the accompanying text was judging the mother for the way in which she carried her child, comparing her to an American mother. Printing the design with the text onto the sweatshirt alone with the words “Greetings From Nablus” calls out the racist undertones of the photo and text and takes ownership of the tradition.
