Features an abstracted embroidered map of the route from Ramallah to Bethlehem, where the sewing factory that makes the sweatshirt is located. Ramallah and Bethlehem are the white diamonds, the apartheid wall is the red line, and the illegal settlements are the red cros-stitched. On google maps, the route from Ramallah to Bethlehem goes through Jerusalem which we are not allowed to do as Palestinians so we drive 2-3 times as long around the apartheid wall to reach the sewing workshop. Where Palestinian embroidery was originally informed by the natural landscape, this embroidery is informed by the changing geo-politics of producing something as simple as this sweatshirt.
