This scarf features traditional Palestinian embroidery, tatreez, and was embroidered in a women's cooperative made up of over 60 women from the villages of Jerusalem to Gaza. The motif hails from the villages of Gaza and represents the shapes of baklava, a popular pastry sweet of nuts and honey.
Palestinian Tatreez embroidery is a centuries-old art form handmade by women in Palestine and traditionally passed down from mother to daughter. It has become a symbol of Palestinian resistance and female strength under the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
