Tala hand-woven bag
a labor of love: the Nasira bag is hand-woven in a women’s cooperative in the southern hills of al Khalil.
Master weavers, the women learned to shear, spin, dye, and weave wool from their mothers and spend their time passing on the knowledge to the new generation of women in the village. Aside from the spinning and dyeing process, it takes Um Salem about ten days to weave one bag.
Bedouin weaving is a centuries-old art form handmade by women and traditionally passed down from mother to daughter.
